About the event
They have a telephone relationship, they always have. Back then, when he wanted to get engaged to her, he did it on the phone. And now it all ends over the phone. But before the connection is finally cut, she looks back on a life full of words, misunderstandings and unfulfilled longings. The technical marvel of the telephone, which prompted Giancarlo Menotti in 1946 to set the absurd-comical aspects of human communication to music, turns out to be the mouthpiece of loneliness in Poulenc's opera, written twelve years later. Theatre Vorpommern interweaves these two pieces into a single musical Gesamtkunstwerk that opens up a deep look into the human soul.
